Jacob Zuma Cartoons: Had To Happen Sometime!

Instead of following up on Julius Malema, I have decided to focus on the newest political clown, Jacob Zuma. The now well-known artist Brett Murray painted the president posing with.... The South African Crown Jewels in full view. This was obviously a satire of the president's inability to pass by a pretty woman without throwing some cows at her dad and whisking her off. "The Spear" instantly became famous after a lawsuit from the ANC, protests, a German buyer, and being vandalised on 22 May. Of course all fingers were pointed at the Apartheid so blah blah nothing new. The best part about this is the jokes, which will follow:

WARNING! NOT FOR ZUMA FANS!

The painting after being vandalised. I guess "The Spear" is "The Paint Splatter" now.

The brilliant Zapiro with his take on the subject.

Comparing Zuma's presidency to that of Nelson Mandela.

It has been rated I see.

Doesn't the president just have the best influence on kids?

I think Zuma should be thanking Brett Murray, it doesn't even look like Jakes!

So all these jokes, but the biggest joke of all is: Has anyone asked the first wives how accurate the painting really is?

Julius Malema: Part 1 Of The Madness

Politics in any country is difficult, but in South Africa it’s a wild, mud-slinging, playground scuffle with lots of name calling to go around. The forerunner of this is, of course, Mr. Julius Malema.

He was born to a single mother and joined some type of anti-Apartheid group at age 9, where his job was putting up posters. Now I, as a history lover, know that several of our leaders were major Apartheid's fighters in the Struggle. It just annoys me that Malema pretends he was rioting and imprisoned when in actual fact he was just a child.

And looking at the present, what has he really done for South Africa as a leader? You know, apart from spreading hate speech and attacking BBC journalists? He petitions for mines to be nationalised, and makes scandalous headlines but that’s about it. Who could forget the ANC Youth League rally in the poorest of townships where he,” Felt the people’s pain and suffering,” with a designer suit and Rolex?

Furthermore he slanders other politicians, and even the president who technically employs him. If he isn't singing “Shoot the Boer” (shoot the farmer) then he's calling Helen Zille a political toddler. I find it hard to figure out if he's the puppet master or if he's dancing to someone else’s strings.

Apartheid ended in 1994. Racism was supposed to die out when the new generation was born. Instead, Julius is teaching the youth hate speech and prejudice. He has been suspended, but I sense this is only the beginning.

Can’t we sing:”Shoot the slimy-former-ANC-Youth-League-president-with-a-bazooka" instead?

The Tax Trouble: How We Are Being Fooled Into Poverty

I received this email a while ago. I personally believe that South Africa is a potentially brilliant country, but as a writer its important to express a multitude of views. This email was about the taxation problems.

Taxes and Open Road Toll Fees

People should not install the transponders but still use the highways and force the government to issue accounts and summonses to all motorists until such time they drop the prices. The government will be forced to send out millions of accounts every month and they don't have the manpower to do it. This is the best and easiest way to boycott the system. What is the government going to do about motorists from other neighbouring countries that don't have these transponders?
South Africans are too complacent and its time we fight back. WE have paid for these roads. Now they are also proposing a 1% tax to fund the SABC.
This news has to be spread!!!!!!!!

Has anyone thought about just how much tax we are already paying?

a. 35% on your salary
b.14% on everything you buy (bar fresh produce) and services rendered.
c. Carbon tax if you buy a new car (besides the 14% VAT you have to pay)
d. Tax on the fuel you put in your car to run it.
e. Toll on our roads – and for some it is going to come to a whopper of 10% of your salary (If you earn R10 000.00 a R1 000 would go toward tolling if you migrate between Pretoria and Joburg every day.) – Bully to try and pacify me with the idea that I can claim it back from my income tax!!! I have to fork out the money first. Going on holiday to Durban? Remember to save up your R1000.00 for tolling.

To say the least
– For every R10.00 you earn, the government is already taking approx R6.00 and still they want more. Are you happy with the R4.00 you are getting?

NICE!!!!!

When are we going to get up and do something about it? Where is all the money going to? It is definitely not being spent on what it should be – our hospitals are in a state of disrepair, our schools in shambles, our roads full of potholes, our water contaminated, sewers not working, left in the dark because Eskom failed to do their upgrades, the poor are poorer still, municipalities on the brink of collapse, and so the list goes on.

Heard about the youth day celebration that cost R100 million? Mmmm... did you pay for it?
Oh yes sir/madam you did! R100 million that could have paid for a couple of things our country needed more.
And to put the numbers in perspective:

The  next time you hear an SA politician use the word 'billion' in a casual manner, think about whether you wanted the 'politicians'  spending YOUR tax money.
A billion is a difficult number to comprehend, but one advertising agency did a good job of putting that figure into some perspective in one of its press releases:
A.   A billion seconds ago it was 1959.
B.   A billion minutes ago Jesus was alive.
C.   A billion hours ago our ancestors were living in the Stone Age.
D.  A billion days ago no-one walked on the earth on two feet.
E.    A billion Rand ago was only 27 hours and 12 minutes at the rate our SA government is spending it. (a billion rand a day??!!)

Hardly any of these taxes existed 20 years ago...

We had absolutely no national debt...
We had the largest middle class in Africa and Mum had the choice to stay at home to raise the kids.
What the HELL happened ?
ANSWER :
Look at the Government..... They may have had noble intentions at the start, but have since become corrupt.

I  hope this goes around at least a billion times

I found it interesting to think about. The ANC may have fulfilled their purpose, shouldn't they stand aside and let a new party rule South Africa?

Only time will tell.

Secrecy Bill Exposed and (hopefully) Disposed!

A week ago today, the Protection of Information Bill was passed in South Africa. Residents were urged to wear black as a sign of protest on, what was, a very Black Tuesday. For those who are unaware, this means that the governing party, the ANC, will now control what happens in the media.

In other words if President Jacob Zuma decides to fly his horde of wives and children to Mauritius using tax-payers money, we will be the last to know.

Another obvious reason that this Secrecy Bill is being put into place is to protect the several corrupt leaders and their BMWs. After all, what damage would a little petty cash in the pocket make if no-one would be the wiser?

Yes, I can just imagine Jakes sitting in his expensive office, smoking a cigar and having a glass of champagne to celebrate his succesful scam. Maybe even planning to take wife number 20-something.

This Bill is a serious issue people. It authorises the burying of important reports which expose health service problems, delivery problems and corruption in several governmental departments. It also officially makes the posession of classified information illegal which could lead to imprisonment.

If South Africa is a proud democracy then why did its citizens have no say in this matter?

Another interesting argument is that this very technique was used during the Apartheids years to cover up the murder in police custody of Steve Biko, beloved ANC leader. Isnt  it immoral that they insult his name by using this? To think that the ANC is replicating techniques from the NP that they so despised. An ironic observation to say the least.

Many iconic leaders have voiced their disagreement with this. Arch-bishop Desmond Tutu and his Holiness the Dalai Lama joined the ranks of protesters. If the ANC thinks this is over they are  very much mistaken.

Whatever happened to freedom of speech? Our right to know what is happening in our country? How will we explain to the next generation why all the words are blacked out in newspapers?!

I do believe the media would like to say several things to president Zuma. Unfortunately swearwords lose their threat when all you see are a bunch of censory-blacked out bits!
